COURSANA
The client's previous LMS relied on rigid systems with limited opportunities for growth. In conjunction with the development parter, I helped define and document goals, audiences, rules, and success criteria in order to better inform the collective vision for the product.
A known pain point of most LMSs is that they can be complicated. In designing workflows, we needed to be mindful of cognitive overload in a feature-rich environment. The approach was to map the different journeys and empathy maps to deliver focused experiences tailored to user needs.
To humanize the learning experience and ease student frustration through a course, it was important that Coursana allows them to easily track progress, take breaks between challenging sections, and retake assessments when needed.
Through a “back end,” instructors and content owners can easily create content, process certificates, and add new media or assessments to their courses.
The real magic happens behind the scenes! To ensure the overall success of this enterprise-level product, I designed a robust administrative backbone with multiple user tiers and powerful features such as: administrative dashboards, reporting tools, user and role management, a course builder, invoicing, and live support.
Fundamental to the success of the software was the ability to easily and intuitively create courses. We sought to build the most thoughtful and intuitive experience for instructors. The course builder relies on the concept of ‘building blocks’ and is packed with powerful features such as question banks, timers, and quiz builders.
By relying on material design principles, we delivered an intuitive user interface across devices. In line with the new branding, illustrations helped make features easy to understand.
The logo mark was inspired by the shape of an atom—the building block that makes up matter.
Bright colors and a gradient help convey a youthful and approachable feel.
